A Promise.
A Legacy.
A Purpose.

OUR STORY

Deborah “Mama Smooth” Savage believed in taking care of people—especially those who needed a second chance, a little guidance, or simply someone willing to believe in them.

Before her passing in 2024, one of her final wishes for her son, DeAnté, was that he finish what he started: return to school, earn his degree in psychology, take care of his family, and continue moving forward.

He kept that promise.

Mama Smooth’s impact reached far beyond her own family. She was known for helping people get back on their feet, including friends and loved ones returning home after incarceration. Whether connecting someone with a job opportunity, offering encouragement, or simply helping them find their next step, she believed that where someone had been did not have to determine where they could go.

The Deborah Savage Purple Ribbon Foundation was created to carry that same spirit forward.

Today, we serve our community through outreach, service projects, giveaways, and opportunities that bring people together and support families in meaningful ways.

FROM HER HEART TO OUR MISSION

Our long-term vision is to expand that work to young people transitioning out of foster care, group homes, and other systems—young adults who may be entering adulthood without the support, resources, and stability many of us take for granted.

We envision a program that provides mentorship, life skills, educational and employment opportunities, community service experiences, and eventually transitional housing—creating a safe place for young people to build independence while discovering the impact they can make in their own communities.

Because sometimes a second chance isn't just about starting over.

It's about having someone believe in what comes next.
